Raleigh Ritchie is back with the highly anticipated news that his second project Andy is on the way this Summer. The introspective and versatile musician has also dropped a brand new single, titled Aristocrats – complete with a self-directed visual.
Speaking on the single and its accompanying visual, Raleigh states: “British history is complicated, especially as a POC. And history is everything, it’s what we learn from to help us build our future. In school I didn’t learn much about British history aside from the country’s victories and a version of some of it’s atrocities. Sometimes it’s a confusing place, and although I love my country, I don’t always feel loved by it. With this video I wanted to explore this and my relationship to my own history and the history of those who came before me.”
The twelve track project, Andy sees Bristol born and London-hailing Raleigh holding a colossal magnifying glass to himself. A nickname given to his grandfather that then, miraculously unrelated, became his own too. Now, Andy is making his foray into the world of music; this time as the name of Raleigh Ritchie’s anticipated second album. “Andy is a little wink to myself” explains Jacob. “It’s saying, this is you speaking right now, this is you saying what you have to say”.
