Following up from his deep cutting release of Treestyle, Alternative RnB artist Raheem Bakare is back with a brand new single titled, PTSD; an ode to first hand experiences of Post Traumatic Stress Disorder and mental health.
The record hears Raheem play tribute to often overlooked mental warfare, bringing an emotion in his lyrics and signature vocals that cannot be ignored. Speaking about the song, Raheem commented; “I wrote the song in my brother Ibrahim’s house.. He was diagnosed with paranoid schizophrenia and while visiting him, I started producing and writing. My brother was avoiding me the whole time as he wanted to be left alone, and the song ended up writing itself in the process.
PTSD is a form of depression and isolation can enhance the effects of it, so this song is to inspire anyone that is dealing with depression to understand that the trauma is temporary and things will and can get better. Coming from a global pandemic and Black Lives Matter movement, I think this is a message we could all do with hearing”
