Today, 19-year-old fast-rising rapper Deema shares the video to his single Blame – the flip-side to his double A-side single release ‘Maddie’ & ‘Blame’ that dropped back in December last year.
Blame is a complete contrast to the a hazy 90s-influenced hooks of Maddie. Deema’s delivery is free-flowing and adapts to whatever tempo or sound he finds before him. With a conscious, narrative approach and vocabulary that feels akin to classic rap names but a toughness and energy that could only be born in a post-grime landscape.
Speaking on the single, Deema commented “‘Blame’ is a high-octane slice of new school grime, displaying a lyrical ability that sets the young south Londoner apart from the pack. “We raise the question, does she have a man or a boy?”
