We would like to congratulate SB.TV founder and CEO Jamal Edwards for having landed the company a deal valuing the business at £8 million with Miroma Ventures.
SB.TV will use the investment to expand the company, which publishes online videos on YouTube as well as on its own site, in new areas including e-commerce, events, mobile applications and merchandise.
We spoke exclusively with Jamal who told us how the deal came about, and what it means for SB.TV, both in the short and long term:
The deal came about because I wanted to explore the business world in depth, I think it is important to build relationships in that territory too. It will help the culture progress, we all understand the culture but none of us have the relationships in business that will really catapult our scene. In the short term [it] means bringing on a bigger team; in the long term it means that hopefully all business centred around the scene will come together through SB.TV to take what we do worldwide.
