War Child UK have announced the line up for their exclusive concert series, ‘Day Of The Girl’. The event coincides with the UN’s International Day Of The Girl Child and aims to raise awareness surrounding the struggles that women and girls face around the world on a daily basis, as well as raising money for the War Child cause.
The series of events will kick off at Lafayette in London on the 9th of October with a performance from singer-songwriter Caity Baser. This show will be followed by alternative artist Nilüfer Yanya at Bush Hall on the 11th October, before alternative rock band The Mysterines close out the performances with a show at Gorilla, Manchester on 12th October.
Charlotte Nimmo, Head of Fundraising Engagement at War Child, stated:
“We are thrilled to launch Day of The Girl 2023. We are grateful for the support of all the musicians who will help us in amplifying the importance of the issues spotlighted by this event series. This collaborative effort will also raise vital funds to support War Child’s work. Girls and young women living in conflict zones endure impossible circumstances. Through provisions such as aid, education, and psychosocial support, War Child empowers young women who refuse to be defined by the horrors of war.”
