One of the most dominant brands in the game over more than half a century, Timberland have unveiled a brand new collaboration with Nigerian artist Soldier to celebrate the 50th anniversary of the iconic yellow boot. A design introduced in 1973 that cemented the tree logo as a hallmark of innovation, durability, craftsmanship and purpose – the new collaboration sees a tiny collection of 50 unique pairs of boots, individually hand painted to champion one of the most iconic shoes in the world.
“Born in Lagos, Nigeria, for Soldier disruption means to hide in plain sight. Taking a pattern adopted by your traditional image of military operation and reinventing it to drive rebellion; he added colour to make something beautiful out of regimented, unrequited order.
To step beyond London’s sculpted concrete gallery, every panel is clad in Soldier’s signature camouflage, differentiating by colour, form and scaling to subtract any implied rawness; paying tribute to the Star-Spangled Banner appropriately. Symbolizing the protection of perfection, the devil and humanity in equal part – stars announce their presence with beauty, not words.”
Showcased at a secret Timberland 50th Anniversary rave at London nightclub Fabric on 12th October – the evening, hosted by Benji B saw stars congregate in the capital to celebrate the momentous occasion. A fantastic and unique exclusive run of Timberland boots – this collaboration is a truly great artistic partnership – the perfect way to champion such a historic anniversary.
