Afrobeats is finally making its way into the mainstream and amongst all the artists championing the sound; 2017 marks the year that breakthrough musician Mr Eazi will surely take the genre to global heights.
Releasing his anticipated mixtape Life Is Eazi, Vol.1 – Accra To Lagos today (Feb 10th), listeners will be taken on a journey that merges sounds from Ghana and Nigeria – two countries dear to Eazi’s heart. The Nigerian born musician spent most of his childhood growing up between Ghana and London, cities he likes to call home.
Last night (Feb 9th) Mr Eazi was interviewed by Julie Adenuga on her Beats 1 show the two discussed his new music, the incredible journey he’s had thus far and why he chose not to feature Wizkid on his mixtape regardless of the two’s affiliation. “2 People” taken from the mixtape also features as Beats 1’s ‘Best Of The Week’ track.
“Accra To Lagos” is a 14-track mixtape (including 3 bonus tracks), the beginning of the tape takes listeners throughout the regions of Accra focussing heavily on Highlife instrumentals, a sound very popular in Ghana whilst drawing to the end of the tape sounds of Nigeria are discovered – a fusion of beats conveying the country’s diversity. The tape features artists across genres such as Hip-Hop and Afrobeats, Mr Eazi teams up with the likes of; Tekno, Maleek Berry, Olamide, Big Lean, plus more!
After selling out two headline shows last summer and receiving a MOBO nomination (2016), Eazi prepares for his World Tour in March, performing in parts of the U.S, Europe, Asia and bringing it back to the UK for his Summer Festival at The Roundhouse.
