RIP ANDRE HARRELL

Founder of Uptown Records passes on…

Music mogul, Andre Harrell, has died at age 59. The influential streak in his career began when he founded ‘Uptown Records’ and housed a roster of prominent 90s Hip-Hop/R&B talent. Legends in the game, Jodeci and Mary J Blige, were among them and released hit albums, “Forever My Lady” and “What’s the 411?” under Andre’s label.

Harrell also played a significant role in developing Sean ‘Diddy’ Combs’ career – as told famously by the men themselves. He fired Diddy, an intern at Uptown the time, which soon allowed Bad Boy Entertainment to come into fruition.

“Bad Boy era. Rockafella era. It all comes from Uptown.” – Jay Z

Rest in Peace, Andre Harrell!
