Coming on the back of rave reviews for his latest single ‘Beast Mode’ which is currently being championed by BBC 1Xtra, Beat FM London and the MOBO Awards among others, South London Hip-Hop artist and 2014 MOBO UnSung finalist J The Exodus is proud to debut his long-awaited sophomore EP Heart’s Desire, premiered via Clash Music, and out now via Less Is More Music.
From the politically charged opening track ‘Fall From Grace’, to the EP’s lead single ‘Beast Mode’, which many are calling the perfect motivational rap soundtrack for 2017, to title track ‘Heart’s Desire’, with its positive theme of perseverance, J The Exodus’ sophomore EP is filled with passionate lyricism, clever wordplay, and stark honesty, laced over infectious Hip-Hop soundscapes – which all culminate in a bold, poignant and outstanding UK rap offering.
The Heart’s Desire EP features guest appearances from label mate and 2016 Unsigned Music Awards nominee AKS (‘Still Waters Run Deep’), Orph Gang’s YJ (‘Hands Up’), and emerging British singer-songwriter Julie Iwheta (‘Side By Side’), and also boasts production from Telemachus (Klashnekoff, Roc Marciano, Verb T), Mindstate, and DemDrums, who has previously worked with PartyNextDoor, EA Games, and Giggs collaborator Joe Grind,
Speaking about the inspiration behind his Heart’s Desire EP, J The Exodus says, “This project represents an insight into some of my thoughts. Touching on my perspective from a socio-political standpoint, my musical frustrations, and my passions, while still having some fun and showing my rap skills on a couple of verses. All in all, the overarching message behind the project is about following one’s passion whatever that may be”.
