A Chinese teen blew her parents savings spending £50,930 on pay-to-play mobile games for her and her friends.

The extent of her purchases, which left just pennies in the savings account, was only discovered when one of the girls teachers called her parents about her addiction to mobile gaming.

The girl claims to have no idea where the money was coming from or how much she was spending. However, she reportedly tried to conceal her wild spending by deleting the transactions from her phone.

Her enjoyment caught the attention of her classmates who were eager to get in on her newfound wealth.

“If I didn’t send it to them, they would bother me all day. If I told the teacher, I was afraid that the teacher would tell my parents and that my parents would be angry,” she told Elephant News.

Gong Yiwang, mum to the high-rolling 13-year-old, told Elephant News: “I never thought a 13-year-old girl could do this. I’m in a daze; my head feels like it’s going to explode.”

Yiawng said she has requested refunds from a number of platforms but has yet to receive the funds.

Gaming addictions have become such a problem China that the government has introduced internet restrictions on teenagers and children.
