Last night SZA marked her re-emergence with soothing and sexy new single, entitled “Hit Different.” Featuring Ty Dolla $ign.
Taking an hands on approach, SZA directs the sensual cut, that sees her serving looks and sultrily dance moves amongst a group of dancers in a junkyard.
In addition to showing off her seductive singing chops in a field, atop of a haystack and in the back of a pickup truck. Before being joined by her collaborator – Mr. Dolla $ign who owns his scenes.
Backed by an instrumental by the legendary The Neptune’s, you already know this combo is going to… well “Hit Different” (see what I did there.) From the offset Ty’s melodic contribution on the hook sets the tone. Following straight after, is the songstress who holds her own, as she harmonises over a toxic lover. Penning romantic, reflective and relatable lyrics this one begs for a replay!
SZA has been hinting to new music for a minute now, she even revealed that her mother billed “Hit Different” as “soothing and disrupting at the same time.”
“Such rich variations in texture, tone and tempos,” SZA’s mother praised in a text message to her, which SZA shared on socials back in May.
“And I was surprised and touched by the sweet homage to your granny. Love it and love you and thank you so much for stepping out of what’s comfortable to share it with me. I feel so special.”
Take in all that SZA goodness above, and stay tuned for further updates… we smell an album on the way.
