Seemingly, the masked rapper, who goes by the name of M Huncho, appears to be somewhat of an overnight sensation. However, hardcore fans know that the last two years have seen the artist rack up millions of views with a series of Youtube releases and two projects: ‘Get Out’ and ’48 Hours’. So if you don’t know about M Huncho, get to know.
The artist started to gain more commerical popularity after the release of his first project in 2017, several tracks and appearances on various platforms including his Mad About Bars appearance in its second series and a freestyle for Tim Westwood’s Crib Session (to name a few).
Huncho even made it to our UK X US collabs shortlist for his collaboration with Nafe Smallz and Gunna.
2018 was a big year for a lot of artists, M Huncho included as he released his second project, an 8-track EP entitled ’48 Hours’, continued to grace us with visuals for his music and displayed his philanthropic side by performing at a charity show in partnership with Human Aid UK.
M Huncho is known for creating the sort of music that separates itself from everything else we’ve heard, citing that when it comes to making music, his key focuses are ‘Clarity, content, and connection’. The best way to describe his sound is an amalgamation of genres that sits somewhere in between R&B, Trap and Hip-Hop.
He has previously described his genre as ‘TrapWave’, which definitely sounds like something we would stumble across after a few hours on SoundCloud. It takes gritty lyrics over synthesised, spacey instrumentals paired with a slighly more relaxed flow to create that signature hazy sound that M Huncho is known for.
The rapper’s willingness to bring us more experimental music that transcends being confined to a single genre definitely makes him someone to watch this year.
The rapper is starting 2019 off strong, having just announced his ‘Mind Your Business’ tour which is due to commence next month in Brighton.
We will be expecting big things from the rapper this year.
