The Murder of George Floyd, sparked an global outcry; following the viral clip – which showed a white police officer continuing to kneel on his neck after he pleaded for his life. This led to protests worldwide, that aimed to bring awareness to racism and police brutality. Birmingham was amongst the other cities in the UK who participated. The protest commenced on the 4th of June, The West Midlands Police said an estimated 4,000 people took part and none of which were arrested.
“The protesters were loud and passionate, and made their voices clearly heard, but there were no arrests and no disorder,” a force spokesman said.
