In honour of International Womens Day this Friday, we want to show some appreciation to all the women making moves in the sound industry so here is the rundown of the shows and podcasts that you should be listening to:
A podcast hosted by creative multi-hyphenate Adwoa Aboah. Her show features a variety of entertaining guests and promotes open and honest conversations with women, for women. But I would encourage everyone to give it a listen, perfect for the morning commute.
This podcast is great after a long day, especially if you need to laugh and get some life advice at the same time. Hosted by a trio of women (Tolani (Tolly) Shoneye, Audrey Indome, and Milena Sanchez), The Receipts Podcast is the destination for unfiltered girl talk.
A fairly new show on Red Bull Radio hosted by foundation.fm’s Kamilla Rose. I would definitely recommend this show to those aspiring towards a career in radio broadcasting as its primary focus is ‘moving the dial on women on sound’.
You can listen to the latest episode of Normal Not Novelty here.
This host needs no introduction but I’ll give her one anyway. She was the first woman to have a specialist hip-hop show on Kiss FM, curated a mix for Drake’s OVO Sound radio show and is now touring with Fredo. Tiffany Calver is definitely a great example of a woman taking over a male-dominated industry and you can catch her show Saturday nights on BBC Radio 1Xtra. Perfect for those spontaneous nighttime drives, no aux cord needed.
Let us know who are some of your favourite women in sound.
