Following on from the historical events that saw both Headie One and D Block Europe’s debut albums in the top two chart positions, here is the weekly scoop on how even more urban U.K. acts have performed in the Official Charts.
“Edna”, which debuted at #1, and “The Blue Print: Us vs Them” are maintaining strength in numbers as both are still listed within the top five on the Official Album Chart Top 100. Spilling out with hot singles that are still in heavy rotation and viral campaigns, the rappers are expected to uphold their top-tier positions for a lengthy period.
Coming in at #18 on the Official Singles Chart Top 100 is Digga D, who, despite incarceration and restrictions on his music, has had an impressive bounce-back with his latest record, “Chingy (It’s Whatever)“. His popular hook and visual treatment is a nod to 2000s rapper, Chingy, which further propelled Digga D’s viral track. This comes after hit single, “Woi”, which occupied the 24th spot in the UK Official Charts in its first week.
Wait… there’s more?
More familiar artists are scattered across the Top 100 listed singles, as Chunkz & Filly’s “Hold” stands at #29. Not3s & AJ Tracey’s “One More Time” comes up at #65, followed by “PMW” at #67. Jay 1’s collaboration track, “Curvy”, featuring American rapper, Blueface, sees #83 and “5AM” sees #86.
Without the support of live shows and minimal club/party events, these albums and singles are still in heavy rotation by strength of their quality. Congratulations to all artists surviving the current climate and climbing the charts!
