For many, Friday’s are an entrance into the weekend – a time to ease up and relax – but for music lovers it’s another day of drops and a chance to review the success of artists, a week after they’ve released some fresh cuts. Welcome back to your weekly music forecast – the Chart Update – brought to you courtesy of Mixtape Madness.
When a musician that’s risen lands their first Top 10 in the charts, it’s exciting, and today we’re celebrating Birmingham’s very own M1llionz hitting this milestone with Provisional License, a 12 track wheel-up that’s hasn’t failed to make an impression on the scene – from the concept applied to its roll out, down to this Driller’s unconventional and fluid flows.
Back in London, we have Edmonton native, Tion Wayne carrying at number five, following the release of his debut album Green With Envy, an impressive position to be in that is supported by the occasions he’s hosted to celebrate its release, including a launch party, and his documentary screening; both of which successfully highlight the importance of a strong campaign. Away from UK soil, we have Drake’s Certified Lover Boy bouncing back from number three to reclaim the champion spot and Lil Nas X’s Montero finds itself being shifted to 2nd place.
In terms of Singles Eastender, French The Kid makes another entrance into the Top 100 with Thrill, whilst Westender Central Cee steadily climbs to number 4 with Obsessed With You; Arz’s Alone With You is up 2 places from 48th to 46th. The singles by Central and Arz demonstrate the power of TikTok when it comes to the numbers game with streams, and the platform’s influence on day to day pop-culture that is constantly changing as a result of its existence. Finally, we have another win for M1llionz, as Provisional License – featuring AJ Tracey – has risen to number 66 in the singles category!
