Stormzy speaks on the importance of Black British culture

Parris Walters

The last few years have seen a rapid trajectory for the success of London’s very own self-made rapper Stormzy. Known for using his platform to speak on the bigger issues, Stormzy is no stranger to engaging in important discussions and confronting injustice when he sees it.

Most recently, we have seen him transition from primarily focusing on the creation and promotion of his own music to working on other successful ventures such as #Merky Festival and his very own publishing imprint with Penguin Random House UK called #Merky Books.

The rapper sat down with Capital XTRA’s Robert Bruce to discuss life after the release of his debut album (Gang Signs & Prayer) and his book, as well his new single ‘Vossi Bop’. Later in the interview, he goes on to stress the importance of representation and how the younger generation can be influenced and motivated his achievements.
