Although he has not been out for as long as many of the artists I will list, he is however already one of the best writers hip-hop has seen. This is a bold statement however he has proved with albums like The Cool and Food and Liquor as well as The Great American Rap album pt. 2.Lupe combines a GZA-like command of diction and metaphor, plus an evocative delivery which is very 2Pac-esque. He can be complex as emcees like Del the Funky Homosapien, Aesop Rock, MF Doom and El-P, however he is able to still convey his politically and socially aware message with distinct clarity.
Lupe is also one of the most concept heavy emcees of all time. He has used a cheeseburger as a metaphor in Gotta Eat for drug dealing and beef in the hood. He also showed through the much criticised Lasers that he can make an accessible album that still contains important messages and potent lyrics. It is too early to call Lupe a legend however he will be if he continues.
