Standing as one of Britain’s most loved pop icons, Sabrina Washington found global fame as the lead singer of Mis-Teeq, the most successful British-Black group of the 21st Century and most successful UK-Garage act of all time. Set to return next week (September 4th) with her brand new and exciting single, Don’t Call Me – Sabrina Washington is returning to reclaim her title as the “The Goddess of Garage” – eek!
Marking 20 years of UK-Garage and Mis-Teeq this year; the resurgence of UKG from the likes of Mabel and AJ Tracey, has left Sabrina feeling like it was only right to pick up where she left off in Mis-Teeq and show today’s young stars how it’s done!
Hailed by the legendary Trevor Nelson as the “Goddesses of Garage”, Mis-Teeq (Sabrina Washington, Alesha Dixon & Su-Elise Nash) became one of the most successful groups of the 2000’s, with two Top 10 multi-platinum albums, 7 consecutive Top 10 singles (including the global smash hit Scandalous) and record sales in excess of 12 million worldwide.
Following the group disbanding, Sabrina has gone on to forge a successful solo career with the release of an array of singles, all of which went to No.1 across 12 European countries – Sabrina Washington is the only member of the group to have a #1 solo single!
The past year has seen Sabrina make a welcomed return to the spotlight, and with her brand new single dropping next week – we can’t wait to see what Sabrina has in store for us! Reflecting on her hotly-tipped forthcoming release, Sabrina commented; “2020 has been a hard year for everybody. The nostalgia of UK-Garage has sparked such a resurgence and I wanted to release something fun and catchy to celebrate that. Plus there wouldn’t be a New School UK Garage if it wasn’t for the Old School”
