If you are clued up about the current soundscape of British Rap, then you will know that Grime had a lot to do with it! In order to celebrate and champion the generation defining genre, Femi Oyeniran and Nicky “Slimting” Walker have created and A&R’d the first ever Grime soundtrack and movie titled, ‘Against All Odds’. Exploring the rise of Grime, from its rich culture to the music, the nostalgia weaves throughout both the movie and soundtrack and features a slew of legendary and newly found names from D Double E, Ghetts, Jammer, Diesel, Maxwell D, Capo Lee and more.

Today, the highly anticipated 5-track ‘Against All Odds’ EP has finally arrived and features a slew of boast-worthy names from Maxwell D, Capo Lee, Novelist, So Large, D Double E, Triggz, Bruza, Tempa T, Jammer, Active, Sir Spyro, Flowdan and Ayo Beatz. Filled from start to finish with hard wordsmith and punchlines, this soundtrack takes you on a journey through time; all varying in sound, each emcee boasts their indisputable ability throughout.

Introducing the EP with the pre-released track titled “So Serious 2020”, this all-star remix is best known for being one of Maxwell D’s classic Grime tunes! Enlisting the likes of Capo Lee, Novelist, So Large, Bruza and Tempa T, this offering merge’s the old Grime sound in with the new. Celebrating Black British music, the visuals highlight a variety of note-worthy references from Capo Lee’s Dizzee Rascal’s ‘Boy In Da Corner’ artwork, to So Large portraying Wiley’s ‘Playtimes Over’, not to mention Bruza recreating the artwork for Tinchy Stryder’s famous RWD Magazine cover and more; further championing an assortment of Grime heavy-weights, this track is the ultimate link up!

Swiftly transitioning into the punching and skittering sounds of “Likkle Fish”, both D Double E and Triggz go back to back on this dominating and vigorous offering. Housing a head-bopping and greaze-enriched backdrop, the infectious hook sets pace for the hard-hitting verses ahead; “You’re not on my wave, you’re not on my wave / I’ve been on this wave, since back in the days / Man wanna act up man wanna try get brave / Likkle fish behave, likkle fish behave”. Shortly followed by the energy-driven cut “Active” by both Jammer and Active, the thrilling narrative correlates seamlessly with the feel of the track. Laced with no-nonsense and straight-talking bars from the onset, both Jammer and Active let their position and status be known!

Changing up the feel ever so slightly, Sir Spyro and Flowdan deliver a somewhat more laid-back vibe with “Running Their Mouth”. Accommodating a synth ridden and eerie beat, “Running Their Mouth” is enriched with gruff tones, skittering flows and an effortless level of greaze. Closing out the EP with an upbeat and melodic offering from Capo Lee and Ayo Beatz, “Whole Ting” is brimming with an aspirational message. With Ayo Beatz covering the memorable and auto-tuned hook, his gruff tone compliments Capo Lee’s rapid flows and straight-talking bars flawlessly.
