Ty, the Mercury-nominated star that helped pave the way for many within UK Hip-Hop, has sadly passed away at the age of 47 after contracting Coronavirus.
Ty was apart of the UK hip-hop group named Kingdem alongside Blak Twang and Rodney P. The group performed a freestyle on Charlie Sloth’s Fire in the Booth series where he referred to Ty “a friend, a role model and a true foundation to UK rap.”
It’s safe to say he had an impressive catalogue of work behind him with projects including Awkward, his Kick Snare and an Idea triology, as well as his Mercury nominated album Upwards that ultimately bought him a wider audience and more recently A Work Of Heart – his undeniable talent was endless!
According to The Guardian, Ty was hospitalised in early April with complications that were related to Covid-19. He was subsequently put in a medically induced coma, and though he initially showed signs of improvement, his condition ultimately deteriorated. He sadly passed away on Thursday, May 7th.
A lot of his friends and peers have taken to social media to pay their respects.
All of our thoughts and prayers go out to his family and loved ones during this time.
