This Sunday, on the 15th November, an array of Reggae pioneers with come together for ‘No Bass Like Home’ – a virtual festival showcasing exclusive performances from some of the best live acts and legends from the Reggae scene!
Presented by Brent 2020, London Borough of Culture and curated by BBC Radio 1Xtra’s Seani B, the ‘No Bass Like Home’ festival is set to showcase all of the sides of Reggae’s rich history by uniting leading acts from London, Jamaica and Florida – amazing right?! Shining a glimmering light on Black British History, all of the talented musicians featured on the line up have contributed Reggae within British music and more!
With performances from Julian Marley, The Cimarons, Janet Kay, Marla Brown, Mr Incredible and veteran MC General Levy and Big Zeeks; Girls I Rate will also be presenting Alicai Harley, Amaria, Brixx and DJ Carmen, not to mention a performance from Brent Reggae’s community choir!
Speaking on the festival, Seani B, the curator commented; “The culture and vibe that Brent has brought me over the years has helped nurture my path and influence my career to date. The energy at the legendary Brent Black Music Co-op has been reminiscent of the sessions I do back in Jamaica for BBC Radio 1Xtra. It’s never been more important to celebrate what’s on your doorstep, and I’m proud we’ve been able to capture artists that are admired and respected in the reggae community.”
Justine Simons OBE, the Deputy Mayor for Culture and the Creative Industries adds: “Reggae is a signature sound of Brent’s history and this free online festival will be a real celebration of its great influence on the borough and our capital. By bringing top acts from the music scene into our homes, it will be a highlight in Brent’s London Borough of Culture programme.”
