Laura Mvula’s Diamonds is a track that me and the misses always connect with. The track is beautiful, the type of track couples play on their wedding day. Now I have never been much of a sweet boy and truth be told I haven’t been to the barbers in a hot minute but Sing To The Moon is an iconic album. In the same esteem I hold Boy In The Corner, (St – and)illmatic, Miseducation, The Sagas Of… you get my gist. These are all timeless bodies of work that transcend charts, commercial commentary and fads. These albums have provided good food for the soul.
Laura Mvula’s last album in 2013, although it had political undertones was very up lifting. “That’s alright” has a strong message but still has a happy feel to it, my daughter is 18 months and she smiles to it. I’m excited by The Dreaming Room but the 1st two tracks; Overcome (Nile Rodgers went in) and People (amazing feature from Wretch 32) tell me that we are in for a slightly darker side to Laura. I look forward to her twisted, dynamic compositions, Steve Brown chemistry and amazing vocal range in The Dreaming Room.
Make sure you pre-order the album now!!!
