Enigmatic London artist and singer songwriter kwn (pronounced kay-wuhn) has returned with her latest single, ‘lord i’ve tried’. The Gospel influenced track has been accompanied by an emotive ‘wn take’ music video featuring the artist’s family and shot by Chris Chance.
kwn grew up in Walthamstow in north London and has been honing her craft since she first released back in 2020. Her music is varied in terms of genre and has been co-signed be the likes of Kehlani and Timbaland.
Speaking on her latest track, the artist states:
“This tune means way too much to put into words. I’ve had a difficult past few years mentally and emotionally, and wanted to encapsulate that feeling for others that might need some healing too. Writing it with one of my best friends Sasha Keable made the process a whole lot easier. It’s funny cos we went into the session with our boy Rayo wanting to make a feel good tune but the universe had other plans, and clearly it was for the best!
It’s raw, vulnerable, and has 0 autotune which was the biggest step for me. Not saying I won’t ever use it again because that’s just my style, but this just needed to be as raw as possible, and to let people know – behind the autotune is a VOCALIST. Oh, and I should say the ‘choir’ is just me and Sasha. Take that in. But i really do hope this song gives people some validation – it’s okay to not be okay, it’s okay to be struggling, we’ll get past it wn way or another.”
