BNXN (formerly known as Buju) has returned with a new Gospel-tinged single, ‘Pray’, alongside an engrossing music video shot by the prestigious Nigerian director TG Omori. This is the artist’s first solo release of the year and follows on from the success of his last EP, ‘Bad Since ’97’, which saw him win the Next Rated Artist award at the Headies in 2022.
The track explores how BNXN deals with fame and criticism, turning to prayer for guidance. The instrumental takes us on a journey through a multitude of genres, from violin strings and Afrobeats percussion to a Gospel choir inspired chorus. The artist has managed to carve out his own unique sound, standing him in good stead as he grows in his career.
Having already collaborated with the likes of Dave, M Huncho, and Wizkid, BNXN has set himself on a path to superstardom. His last project received over 200 million streams and as he continues to refine his artistry and hone in on his sound, there is no doubt he can be a leading figure within Nigerian music and internationally for many years to come.
