How has it been in London this time around? What have you been up to?
It’s been a lot of interviews and a lot of work for me. I am enjoying the weather, the last time I was here it wasn’t too good.
Will we see any collaborations between you and any UK artists at this time?
You will see some collaborations… I do have so song with Gabzy, Midas and NSG.
Your recent song with Zlatan, how did that collaboration come about and what messages were you trying to portray?
The song is saluting women in general, a woman plays a special place in a man’s life regardless of the situation. You have to respect them they are special.

Would you say social media like TikTok has helped you pivot your career?
When I broke out it was actually Triller at the time but TikTok helped one of my songs called “Fire” which I released with Empire which has over 70,000 videos so I think it did help.
How did you start your career, how did you get into music?
Professionally in 2017, I made a freestyle which went viral on Twitter and J-Hus actually co-signed it. I never knew who he was at the time but when I saw it blowing up I took the leap of faith and in 2020, I had my first breakout song and since then I’ve been learning and becoming better.
What is your creative process when making music?
I use people’s experiences and sometimes it’s abstract. Sometimes when you’re drinking and having a good time you want to make music sometimes it just comes out of your subconscious.
In terms of career did you see any cultural barriers trying to break through?
At the time I was releasing music, it wasn’t about breaking through, it was about making music and being happy. Afrobeats has become universal for me, I like to carry my culture so it stays original for me.
What are your favourite songs that you’ve made your top 3?
“Loading” is definitely up there, move there is a remix coming for that and also MJ (Michael Jackson).
What’s your favourite moment in your career?
Opening up for Fire Boy DML, anyone you ask about that concert will tell you about Bad Boy Timz. It was so good I performed an unreleased song.
If you could go back to the beginning of your career would you change anything?
I had an issue with my ex-label and I could have handled it differently, but sometimes you can’t get people to see the bigger picture and sometimes you need to separate from people to do better. That’s the only thing.
What legacy are you trying to leave behind?
That bad boy Timz is a happy guy, was always smiling and makes happy music for people.
How did you come up with the name Bad Boy Timz?
It’s actually a combination of both of my names, I used to be called Timz before but decided to change it. A combination of both.
